Death Cab for Cutie to play at Paso Robles amphitheatre
– Death Cab for Cutie will perform at Vina Robles Amphitheatre on Aug. 7 as part of the band’s summer headlining tour.
Presale tickets for the Paso Robles concert go on sale Jan. 28 at 10 a.m. local time. General ticket sales begin at 10 a.m. Jan. 30. Tickets will be available through Ticketmaster.
The tour follows a sold-out global run marking the 20th anniversary of the album Transatlanticism and the release of the band’s 10th studio album, Asphalt Meadows.
“One of my favorite parts of being in this band is getting to be out on the road with artists that inspire us. Japanese Breakfast, Jay Som, and Nation of Language have made some of our favorite albums in recent years, and we’re stoked they’ll be joining us this summer,” said Benjamin Gibbard.
Death Cab for Cutie formed in Bellingham, Washington, in 1997 and emerged as a defining band of its era through the songwriting of co-founder, vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter Benjamin Gibbard. The band broke through globally with Transatlanticism, a platinum-certified release later recognized by National Public Radio as one of the most important recordings of the decade. Their 2005 major-label debut, Plans, also achieved platinum status and earned the band its first Grammy Awards nominations.
Subsequent releases, including Narrow Stairs, Codes and Keys, and Kintsugi, brought the band a total of eight Grammy Awards nominations. Later projects included Thank You for Today in 2018 and The Georgia EP, which raised more than $100,000 for voting rights efforts. In 2022, Gibbard released Ocean Child: Songs of Yoko Ono, and the band released Asphalt Meadows.
