The Almond Grower’s building in Paso Robles, home of Derby Wine Estates, is on sale for $8.6 million. The winery is currently downsizing and will continue production during this process.

“This historic building has been lovingly restored and the city of Paso Robles was very supportive of that process. It’s very special and important to find a new owner who will appreciate and carry on the legacy for the community,” said Vineyard Professional Real Estate owner and broker Jenny Heinzen, who is co-listing the property with Clark Company Real Estate.

The building, which is on 1.18 acres and measures 13,523 square feet, contained spaces for a tasting room, large-scale outdoor seating, offices, and more. A crush pad that is 3,864 square feet is also found on the property, which helps with an annual production of 20,000 cases. Potential uses for the building include restaurants, shops, and more.

The Almond Grower’s building has been used for processing of almonds, grain and now grapes, since 1922. Derby Wine Estates owners Ray and Pam Derby bought and began renovations on the building in 2012. They received the 2014 Beautification Award of the Year by the Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce and the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

The Derby’s began purchasing land for vineyards in 1998, which include Derbyshire Vineyard in San Simeon, Laura’s Vineyard in Paso Robles, and Derby Vineyard in the Templeton Gap.

“This is much more complex than selling a house or even a typical commercial building. Sellers are willing to be patient and we will look at offers as they are received,” Heinzen said.
