Diablo Canyon decommissioning engagement panel to hold public meeting
–The Diablo Canyon Decommissioning Engagement Panel’s monthly public meeting will be held at the San Luis Obispo County Government Center. The meeting’s focus will be on potential future uses of Diablo Canyon lands. Time will also be dedicated to public comment.
Panelists are local community members that broadly reflect diverse community viewpoints and who live in proximity to Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP). Representatives from PG&E will be present to discuss DCPP decommissioning planning status and to answer questions.
The meeting will occur Wednesday, Aug. 29, from 6 – 10 p.m. Open house poster session for the panel and the opportunity for the public to speak with decommissioning subject matter experts will go from 6 – 7 p.m.
The meeting will be held at the San Luis Obispo County Government Center, located at 1055 Monterey St. in San Luis Obispo.
The panel will help inform PG&E’s site-specific decommissioning plan and cost estimate which will be filed with the California Public Utilities Commission in the next Nuclear Decommissioning Cost Triennial Proceeding (NDCTP) in December. The panel will also help inform PG&E’s plans for the future use and potential repurposing of the DCPP site and the more than 12,000 acres of lands that surround it.
