Downtown businesses planning ‘Holiday Bingo’ for Small Business Saturday
Prizes of $350, $150, and $75 available for completed cards
– Downtown Paso Robles businesses are joining the nationwide Small Business Saturday movement on Nov. 29, offering an interactive shopping experience that continues throughout the holiday season. Local shops will highlight handcrafted gifts, local art, unique clothing, artisan goods, and dining.
To connect holiday shopping with community activities, downtown businesses are introducing Holiday Shopping Bingo. Customers can collect stamps from participating businesses across the district to fill a bingo card for a chance to win grand prizes containing local goods and experiences.
“I champion Small Business Saturday because a startling number of customers look to small businesses and local inventiveness to make quality and unique purchases,” said Mary Uebersax, long-time local business owner and event contact. “This year, by focusing on Holiday Bingo, we are creating a fun game that encourages customers to discover new favorites across the entire downtown area. Unlike Cyber Monday, the small businesses are firmly planted in the community. We also focus on what our customers want and offer promotions with a local flare.”
The Small Business Saturday movement, supported by major advertising and incentives from American Express, increases awareness of the value of locally owned small businesses, a value recognized by the US Congress.
Participating businesses will offer Holiday Shopping Bingo pages inside the Light the Downtown Songbook. The pages can also be picked up at the Paso Robles Main Street office. Customers can visit participating businesses, look around, and collect stamps toward a full blackout of the card. Completed cards may be turned in for a chance to win prizes of $350, $150, and $75 to use at participating locations.
Downtown Paso Robles is encouraging visitors to make a full day of the event by beginning with coffee, tea, and breakfast at local restaurants. Visitors can then explore barbering, massage therapy, and styling services, browse gift shops and clothing stores, and find holiday décor. Additional activities include restocking artisan goods and specialty foods, and visiting tasting rooms and restaurants through the evening.
