Downtown SLO CEO steps down

Rachel Maiorino, former Special Events Manager, will be leading the organization as its new Chief Operating Officer.

–Chief Executive Officer Dominic Tartaglia has stepped down from his role at Downtown SLO to pursue a career in law enforcement. As the Board of Directors of Downtown SLO searches for a new CEO to helm the organization, Rachel Maiorino, former Special Events Manager, will be leading the organization as its new Chief Operating Officer.

For over four years, Dominic led Downtown SLO with vision and dedication. Dominic expanded Concerts in the Plaza to 15 weeks, started the Downtown Education Series to foster our business community, pioneered the first annual Sip ‘n Saunter, developed countless relationships in the Downtown community, led The Market into its 35th year, and navigated Downtown SLO (formerly the San Luis Obispo Downtown Association) into a new identity, including a new name, logo, and website.

Rachel Maiorino, former Special Events Manager, has assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer and will be leading the organization until a new CEO has been found. Rachel holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural & Environmental Plant Science from Cal Poly. She joined the team a year and a half ago after previously interning with the organization. Having lived in San Luis Obispo since 2012, Rachel is excited to deepen her involvement with the Downtown community and serve as interim leader for the growing organization.

The Board of Downtown SLO is currently conducting a CEO search and hopes to have the position filled within the next quarter.

For more information on the organization, please visit our website at www.DowntownSLO.com or contact Chief Operating Officer Rachel Maiorino at Rachel@DowntownSLO.com or call (805) 541-0286 ext. 11.

Downtown SLO is a 501 (c)(6) nonprofit founded in 1975 whose mission is to foster an economically vibrant downtown. Downtown SLO serves the community by working on initiatives like parking and beautification efforts, coordinating special events and the weekly Farmers’ Market, supporting economic activities, and examining downtown issues.
