Update: Driver falls asleep at wheel, crashes into oak tree, passenger killed

The names of the two parties involved in the collision that occurred last Friday morning have been released by CHP. The driver was 23-year-old Ryna Michelle Ochoa of San Miguel. Her passenger was 28-year-old Mykel Leo Romo of Santa Margarita. Ochoa was driving westbound on Estrella Road east of Martingale Circle at approximately 55 mph.
CHP confirmed that Romo was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver was not found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The driver of the vehicle that crashed into an oak tree Friday morning near Paso Robles reportedly told officers that she fell asleep at the wheel, sending the vehicle off the road and into a tree.
Her passenger was killed in the crash. He was not wearing his seatbelt, reports say.
He has been identified as Mykel Romo, 28, of Santa Margarita. The driver has not yet been identified but is believed to be a San Miguel woman, age 23.
Reports say it took nearly two hours before the crash was called in to dispatch.

–A vehicle crashed into a tree early Friday near Paso Robles, killing one person and seriously injuring another, according to reports.
The crash occurred in the early-morning hours Friday on Estrella Road near Martingale Circle, just north of Highway 46 East. The names of the people involved in the crash have not yet been released.
