Driver killed in accident on Sunday

Updated Nov. 12: The California Highway Patrol has identified the driver who was killed in a single-vehicle accident early Sunday morning in Paso Robles. Samuel Telles Sanchez, 31, of Paso Robles died after hitting two utility poles in his 1995 Ford F-150 pickup truck. Alcohol impairment is suspected, pending a toxicology report, a CHP report says.

Sanchez was driving just after midnight on River Road, north of Experimental Station Road, at an unknown speed when we failed to negotiate a sweeping easterly curve in the road, the report says. He traveled across the opposing lane of traffic and then off the west edge of the road. He collided with two separate utility poles, shearing both off at the ground. The truck’s momentum was stopped as its roof collided with a large tree directly over the front passenger compartment causing Sanchez fatal injuries, the report says.
