    Update: Driver travels through fence on Highway 101

    –More details have been released regarding the single-vehicle accident that occurred wednesday on the Northbound 101.

    The accident occurred at approximately 9:10 a.m. on northbound US-101, just north of Highway 46 West. The driver was David Daniel Castello, 67-years-old, from Morro Bay.

    Castello complained of pain to his neck and back, but he refused treatment, according to California Highway Patrol. The other occupant in the vehicle Patricia Gail Castello, 73-years-old, from Clovis. She was sitting in the right front seat at the time of the collision. Castello complained of pain to her neck and back, according to CHP. She was treated on scene and transported to Twin Cities Hospital for precautionary reasons. The parties were traveling in a 2015 Honda Accord.

    The cause of the collision is still under investigation, but it appears that the driver made an unsafe turning movement which caused him to drive off of the roadway, according to CHP.

    –A driver in a white sedan traveled through a fence on the northbound Highway 101, just north of the exit for Highway 46 West this morning, according to eye witness reports.

    California Highway Patrol officers and fire personnel responded to the scene.

    No further details are available at this time, but updates will be posted as more information is received.

    From what I can see in the picture, it looks like they were VERY LUCKY that they did not hit the tree, rocks or drainage culvert. That could have resulted in a verty different ending.
