Dubost ‘Destination Wedding’ premiere raises 5k for kids art classes

–On Thursday, Sept. 6, locals packed Studios on the Park and Park Cinemas for a sold-out reception and premiere screening of “Destination Wedding.” Sponsored by Dubost Winery, where the romantic comedy starring Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder was largely filmed, the event served to both celebrate the talented local actors who participated in the production and raise much-needed funds for youth arts education.

The tremendous enthusiasm from the crowd confirmed organizer and longtime resident Kate Dubost’s belief in the Paso Robles community and its awareness of the need and value in supporting art for local students. “We had such an amazing experience working with a talented and dedicated cast and crew and wanted to share the excitement with the community by hosting a charitable premiere for Kids Art Smart. The free, hands-on art classes it provides are life-changing and we want to be sure as many children as possible in North County can take part” said Kate Dubost.

To ensure as many dollars as possible were raised for Kids Art Smart, Dubost coordinated the fundraiser with many of the vendors that worked on the movie production: Taylor Rentals provided all the rental needs, Park Cinemas donated two theaters, Studios on the Park donated the reception space, Paso Catering greatly reduced food costs, Central Coast Party Helpers provided staff for event support and Dubost Winery generously donated their award-winning Dubost wine.

Dubost Ranch is located on 320 acres of land in the Adelaida region that spans six generations. A boutique winery focused on quality, sustainable winemaking, they specialize in wines from Rhone and Spanish varietals, especially Syrah, Tempranillo, Viognier. Their wines are a reflection of their way of life, and mission. Go to www.dubostwine.com for more information.

Studios on the Park, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit open studios art center in downtown Paso Robles, is open to the public daily at noon and provides community arts access and education programs to over 100,000 children and adults every year. Current offerings include free hands-on Kids Art Smart fine art experiences, monthly changing exhibitions, Art After Dark Paso open house celebrations, and open studios with professional resident artists.
