Early morning fire ignites Paso Robles garage

– On Sunday at approximately 2:56 a.m., the Paso Robles Department of Emergency Services responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the 900 block of Player Lane in Paso Robles.

First arriving firefighters found a fully involved 2-car garage with fire extending into the attic of the residence. Firefighters were able to stop the fire in the attic space and worked to prevent smoke and water damage to the occupant’s belongings and the remainder of the structure.

The sleeping residents were notified of the fire by an alert neighbor. Both the father and son were able to safely evacuate prior to the fire department’s arrival.

Two fire engines and one Battalion Chief from Paso Robles responded. Under the city’s automatic aid agreements, one fire engine and one Battalion Chief from Cal Fire SLO County, one fire engine from Templeton Fire, and one fire engine from Atascadero Fire all responded to assist. In addition to the above, two more engines were requested from Cal Fire / SLO County for help at the scene and provide coverage for additional emergency calls. A total of 19 firefighters responded to the incident with additional assistance from both Paso Robles Police Department and San Luis Ambulance Service.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Paso Robles Department of Emergency Services reminds all residents to ensure they have working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in their residence.
