ECHO hosting, ‘Long Walk Home’ Aug. 27

Event raises money for homeless organizationLong walk home echo

–On Saturday, Aug. 27, El Camino Homeless Organization, a non-profit organization that supplies food and overnight shelter for homeless families and individuals within the county, will be hosting their annual fundraiser, Long Walk Home.

Long Walk Home is a non-competitive fun walk. Participants take a morning stroll around downtown Atascadero, and the walk ends a short time later with music, lunch and prizes. Participants can also take a tour of ECHO instead of walking, or do both.

Join service clubs, faith-based organizations, businesses and other community organizations to participate, or register as an individual. More than 70-percent of ECHO’s operating budget comes from donations and fundraisers like these.

The team that raises the most funds wins a grand prize fishing or whale watching boat trip courtesy of Virg’s Landing Sportfishing in Morro Bay. Another wonderful prize for the team that brings the most registered walkers is a dinner prepared by Atascadero Kiwanis for the whole team. The individual who raises the most funds wins an Apple iPad Mini.

Registration is $30 “at the door” on Saturday, or skip the line and purchase tickets for $32.64 online. Kids under 18 are free.
