Fundraiser slated for April 21Chicken_widget2

–The El Camino Homeless Organization, or ECHO, is seeking potters, knitters and quilters to help with their Empty Bowls fundraising event. In exchange for donating five or more handmade items, participants receive a complimentary ticket to ECHO’s Empty Bowls fundraising luncheon happening April 21.

“Those who buy a ticket get a delicious soup and bread lunch and two handmade items,” said volunteer Robin Smith. “They’ll get a beautiful bowl donated by local artists and students. As an added bonus, they’ll also be able to pick up a potholder, trivet, soup bowl cozy or many other choices made by local knitters and quilters.” Those who donate also are in the running to win one of four $100 gift certificates to local shops including Birch Fabrics in Paso Robles, Ranch Dog Knitting in Atascadero, Quilter’s Cupboard in Atascadero, and The Quiltery in Paso Robles.

Empty Bowls is happening on April 21, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., at St. William’s Church, 6410 Santa Lucia Road, Atascadero. Tickets are $25.

A variety of soups will be prepared by area chefs and served by local celebrities. Those who would like to donate five items or more to ECHO’s Empty Bowls event are asked to register online at www.echoshelter.net. You can also pick-up registration forms at the four businesses listed above who are offering the gift certificates. Handmade items need to be completed by April 15.
