The competition is the largest in the United States and reached a new record this year with 7,162 entries.

Results announced earlier this week placed the 2013 Ensemble – a blend of cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot, merlot and malbec – at the top of its class for Bordeaux style blends in the $43-$48.99 suggested retail price category.

“The 2013 wines are crowd-pleasers in the tasting room,” said Pam Lock, proprietor. “We are honored that more than 70 judges from across the United States feel the same as our customers.”

Ecluse Wines received double gold medals for its 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2013 Zinfandel and 2013 Rendition, a Rhone-style blend of syrah, grenache and mourvedre. Gold medals were awarded for the 2013 Grenache and the 2013 Improv, a unique blend of five varieties, and a silver medal for the 2013 Petite Sirah.
