Estrella Warbirds to give flyover salute at opening Templeton High School football game

–Estrella Warbirds Museum and Templeton High School will honor veterans, police, fire, and first responders with a National Anthem flyover for the school’s first home football game Sept. 6, at 7:30 p.m.

The 4-ship flyover will include flight lead Scott Stelzle piloting a 1955 Navy T-34, right wing flown by Randy Wilber in a 1955 Navy T-28, and left wing flown by Jeff Quaid in a 1944 Navy SNJ. In trail, behind the formation will feature Veteran of WWII, Betsy’s Biscuit Bomber, a C-47 piloted by Shane Wallace.

The 1943 Douglas C-47, pilots, and flight crew that included Wallace and Stelzle, successfully completed a two-month world tour throughout the United States and abroad to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day Invasion. The American fleet of vintage C–47s crossed the Atlantic and joined other C–47s from around the world for the Daks Over Normandy event crossing of the English Channel into France, June 2-8, 2019.

The C-47 is owned and operated by The Gooney Bird Group, LLC is a California 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Corporation.

Estrella Warbirds Museum, a non-profit organization is located at 4251 Dry Creek Road, Paso Robles, CA 93446. The museum is open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; and Legal Monday Holidays (President’s Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Veteran’s Day).
