Excessive heat watch issued for Paso Robles
‘Worst case scenario’ could see high temperatures up to 118 in Paso Robles
– The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a warning about the potential for extreme temperatures in Paso Robles next week, with a “worst-case scenario” prediction of temperatures reaching up to 118 degrees.
The NWS has shared a table outlining the reasonable worst-case scenario for the hottest temperatures. This table represents the upper end of possible outcomes and is not the official forecast.
An excessive heat watch is in effect from Tuesday morning through Saturday, July 6.
The NWS warns of dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 100 to 105 degrees possible, and upwards of 105 to 115 degrees possible over interior valleys and foothills, including the Antelope Valley. This affects a portion of southwest California.
The heat watch begins Tuesday morning and continues through Saturday, July 6. Heat-related illnesses are expected to increase significantly during this extreme heat event. Warm overnight low temperatures, especially late next week, will worsen the effects of the heat.
Very warm to hot conditions have the potential to bring significant heat impacts to the coast starting Wednesday and continuing through the remainder of the week. Heat advisories may be expanded to include a larger portion of Southern California in later forecasts.
The NWS advises drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned rooms, staying out of the sun, and checking on relatives and neighbors. It is also important not to leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes
Weather Underground is predicting triple digits for Paso Robles next week, but their forecast is not as high as the NWS’s worst-case scenario predictions.
