Fair celebrates cattlemen, farmers with steak dinner and awards

Event recognizes contributions of local farmers, vintners, and ranchers
– The California Mid-State Fair will honor the agriculture community of San Luis Obispo County during Cattlemen and Farmers Day on Thursday, July 17, at the Paso Robles Pavilion.
The event recognizes the contributions of cattlemen, cattlewomen, farmers, vintners, and others involved in food and drink production.
Activities begin with a social hour at 4 p.m. followed by a barbecue steak dinner at 5 p.m. Award presentations will take place at 6 p.m. Live music by Monte Mills and the Lucky Horseshoe Band will start at 7 p.m. on the Mission Square Stage. Concerts will include Jon Pardi in the Chumash Grandstand Arena at 7:30 p.m. and Stephen Pearcy on the Frontier Stage at 8 p.m.
Earlier in the day, guests can attend the Junior Gymkhana at 8:30 a.m. at the Hearst Equestrian Center, the Commercial Cattle Pens Judging at 9 a.m. at the Paso Robles Pavilion, and the Industrial Arts Awards and Auction at noon in the Livestock Pavilion.
Tickets for the barbecue steak dinner cost $30 in pre-sale and $40 at the door, subject to availability. Daily admission tickets are $8 in pre-sale, which saves $7 off the gate price of $15. Tickets can be purchased at www.MidStateFair.com by selecting “Buy Tickets” and then “Cattlemen & Farmers Day.” Tickets are available while supplies last.
The California Mid-State Fair runs from July 16 through July 27, and this year’s theme is “Off to the Races!” Event sponsors include Ag West, Budweiser/Pacific Beverage, Justin Winery, Madonna Inn, and Farm Supply Co.
