Family-to-Family mental health support winter classes now forming

–A 12-session education program offering information, understanding and support for families dealing with mental illness is now forming. The classes are free, include all materials and are led by trained volunteer instructors, all of whom have a family member with mental illness.

Since 1993, over 300,000 family members nationwide have completed the Family-to-Family program and there are hundreds of graduates in San Luis Obispo County. Among the topics for this program are: symptoms of mental illness; brain biology and medications; communications skills; rehabilitation; and taking care of ourselves.

The Paso Robles class is starting on Feb 13. The San Luis Obispo class is starting on Feb 4. The classes are sponsored by the Mental Health Services Act, NAMI SLO, San Luis Obispo County Behavioral Health Services and Transitions Mental Health Association.

Pre-registration is required. Contact Henry Herrera (805) 440-3516. Pre registration is by phone only and the location is given upon pre registration.
