Fatal crash on Highway 101 near Wellsona Road involved semi-truck, car
Collision is under investigation
– A fatal collision occurred Wednesday afternoon at approximately 12:15 p.m. on northbound Highway-101 at Wellsona Road, according to a press release from the California Highway Patrol.
The incident involved two vehicles. A 1990 Cadillac Eldorado, driven by Brianna Mae Thomas, 27, of Paso Robles, was traveling eastbound on Wellsona Road. At the same time, a Freightliner truck driven by Justin Levi Adams, 44, of Pahrump, Nevada, was heading northbound on US-101 in the #2 lane, pulling a trailer.
For reasons yet to be determined, Thomas reportedly failed to yield the right of way and drove into the path of the truck. The Freightliner struck the Cadillac on the right front door, resulting in fatal injuries to Thomas. Her vehicle came to rest partially in the northbound acceleration lane of US-101 and the center divider, while the truck stopped on the east shoulder of the highway north of Wellsona Road.
Adams was not injured in the collision. The CHP is continuing its investigation, and it is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
