Investigators say man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, which caused the vehicle to crash
– Paso Robles police are investigating a single-vehicle crash on State Route 46 East in which a Templeton man died early Tuesday.
Police said the Paso Robles dispatch center received a call shortly before 6 a.m. Aug. 5 about a crash east of the U.S. 101 Freeway. Officers arrived and found a 75-year-old Templeton man dead inside a black pickup truck. It was originally reported as a single-vehicle rollover collision.
The Paso Robles Police Department traffic investigation unit and detective bureau responded to the scene. Investigators determined the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, which caused the vehicle to crash. Police said there is no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved.
