    Female student attacked in SLO

    – A 21-year old female San Luis Obispo resident was attacked Wednesday morning on Fredericks Street in San Luis Obispo, according to reports. This makes the second attack within the last few weeks in San Luis Obispo; a 20-year-old woman was attacked while leaving her apartment building last week.

The woman told officers she was walking home from downtown when a man jumped out from some bushes, grabbed her, and pinned her to the ground. She was able to break free from the man and struck him several times in the face, and then ran to her house and called the police, reports say.

The man was described as standing about six feet tall and wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt. 25-year-old Derrick Moore of Atascadero is being held as the suspect in last week’s case. It is unknown yet if the cases are related. In both instances the women were able to escape, and they both said that they did not know their attackers.
