Fire crews contain riverbed fire in Paso Robles
Officials determined the cause of the fire to be related to homeless activity in the area
– Firefighters responded to a vegetation fire behind 1811 North River Road at approximately 2:45 p.m. on May 14.
Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services crews arrived to find about one-quarter acre of vegetation burning in the riverbed area. The fire involved trees and heavy brush. Firefighters contained the fire within 20 minutes and fully extinguished it within the following hour.
Three fire engines and one battalion chief from Paso Robles responded to the incident. Under the city’s automatic aid agreements, two fire engines and one battalion chief from Cal Fire and San Luis Obispo County Fire Department also responded. A total of 15 firefighters were involved in the response. The Paso Robles Police Department assisted with traffic control.
