Update: Vista Fire contained at 60 acres

    Update posted June 14, 7:15 a.m.

–A wildfire broke out in Paso Robles just before 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. The fire started when a lawn mower sparked the blaze in the 4200 block of Buena Vista.

Heavy wind pushed the fire north, parallel to the Salinas River. Five homes were evacuated. With the help of air crews, firefighters contained the Vista Fire within four hours. The fire burned 60 acres, but did no serious damage.

Cal Fire’s Chris Helms says it’s the fifth fire caused by a lawnmower in the last two weeks. Helms reminds people to not mow after 10 a.m.
