Updated: Fire in Heritage Ranch engulfs two-story home

–Late Monday afternoon, a fire damaged a house in Heritage Ranch and burned several surrounding acres. Firefighters say the fire started in the attic of the house, and then spread to the hills around the house. Cal Fire quickly contained the fire.

The fire burned near Saddleback Lane in Heritage Ranch. The only victim was a pet turtle, which died in the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Second structure no longer at risk, officials say

–Cal Fire and County Fire Engine 33 from Heritage Ranch responded today between 3:30 and 4 p.m. to the scene of a working residential structure fire at the 2700 Block of Saddleback Lane in Heritage Ranch.

The fire began as a vegetation fire and appears to have engulfed a two-story structure. A second structure initially said to be threatened is no longer at risk, according to CHP.

As of one hour ago, the forward progress of vegetation fire has been stopped.

No further details are available. Updates will be posted.
