Update: McMillian Fire near Shandon at 95-percent containment

–Fire crews worked throughout the day yesterday and were able to increase containment of the McMillian Fire near Shandon to 95-percent. Nearly 10 miles of fireline have been constructed around the fire, according to a Cal Fire tweet. The fire has grown to 1,764 acres total.

Update posted June 13, 8:30 a.m.

Update: Fire near Shandon remains at 50-percent containment

–As of 8 a.m. this morning, the McMillian Fire is still at 50-percent containment, according to Cal Fire.

Crews will be working on the fireline all day today and into the evening.

–Firefighters are making progress containing a more than 2,000-acre McMillan Fire in Shandon, according to Cal Fire. The fire is currently 50-percent contained as of 6:30 p.m.

The fire, which has been called the McMillan Fire, is burning east of McMillan Canyon Road on Highway 46.

Officials say while additional air and ground resources are being released, smoke may still be seen in northeastern San Luis Obispo County for some time.

One structure was threatened, but the threat has been mitigated, according to Cal Fire.
