Firefighters use jaws of life to save trapped dog

Quick teamwork kept the trapped dog safe during rescue

    – A Cal Fire unit rescued an overheated dog trapped under a shipping container at a Paso Robles service center on June 19.

According to Cal Fire San Luis Obispo Unit, a forestry logistics officer and Engine 52 responded after hearing a strange noise at the service center. The officer discovered a dog trapped under a conex box and called for backup.

Engine 52 used the jaws of life to help lift the container, and the logistics officer shielded the dog from the sun during the rescue.

“Thanks to their quick thinking, teamwork, and compassion, this four-legged friend is now safe and sound,” Cal Fire San Luis Obispo Unit said.

Cal Fire noted that the dog appeared to be overheating and described him as “melting.”
