Firestone Walker and Cal Poly extend beer partnership

Proceeds from sales will fund scholarships and internships for students

    – Firestone Walker and Cal Poly have announced an extension of their partnership through 2028 around Cal Poly Gold, the official craft beer of the university.

The collaboration, which began in 2022, now includes limited seasonal releases of Cal Poly Gold and new internship and educational opportunities for students. Brewed in the Helles lager style with noble hops, Cal Poly Gold is available on a seasonal basis at university sporting events, select Central Coast accounts, and at Firestone Walker’s Paso Robles brewery in six-pack 12-ounce cans and on draft. Proceeds from concession sales will support student-athlete scholarships and internships.

Firestone Walker has employed dozens of Cal Poly alumni for more than 20 years. “Firestone Walker and Cal Poly are building something that celebrates Mustang pride while investing in the next generation of local brewing and business talent,” said Nick Firestone.

“This next chapter with Firestone Walker reflects our shared values of excellence, innovation, and community,” said Cal Poly Athletics Director Don Oberhelman.

Founded in 1996, Firestone Walker moved its brewing operations to Paso Robles in 2001 and will mark its 30th anniversary next year. The brewery employs numerous Cal Poly alumni across departments.
