Fireworks for sale outside of Paso Robles

fireworks for saleSafe and sane fireworks for personal use are outlawed in the city limits of Paso Robles, but you don’t have to go far if you are looking for some traditional Independence Day fun.

If you are looking for shooting fountains, ground spinners, wheels, Roman candles, or snakes and sparklers, they are on sale now in Templeton and San Miguel.

The San Miguel Firefighters’ Association recently opened its annual fireworks stand on Mission Street in San Miguel. They have ‘Safe and Sane’ fireworks for sale between 8 a.m. and dusk. Proceeds help support the San Miguel Volunteer Fire Department.

Templeton is host to several fireworks stands. Fireworks sales began Tuesday and run through 10 p.m. on Friday. This year there six fireworks booths in Templeton, as reported in the Soaring Eagle Press:

  • Templeton 4th of July Committee (Templeton Youth Groups & Civic Clubs) – on Las Tablas across from the Chevron Station
  • Templeton Education Foundation (classroom grants for Templeton Schools) – 7th and S. Main Street
  • Christian Life Center – 80 S. Main Street
  • New Day Center – Vineyard and North Hwy 101 off ramp
  • Central Coast Center of Spiritual Living – 405 N. Main Street
  • Full Life Outreach – N. Main and River Run Road

The use of fireworks is prohibited in all north county communities, other than San Miguel and Templeton, so don’t bring them back to Paso Robles. For a professional fireworks show, head to the downtown park in the center of Paso Robles at about 9 p.m. Read more about the Independence Day festivities here: Details released on city’s 4th of July celebration.

Templeton issues warning on using fireworks

Only Safe N’ Sane fireworks are allowed within the Templeton Community Services District, the agency said in a warning to local residents. The fire department recommends adult supervisions when fireworks are discharged. Below are a few safety tips:

• Never allow young children to play with or ignite fireworks.
• Avoid buying fireworks that are packaged in brown paper because this is often a sign that the fireworks were made for professional displays and that they could pose a danger to consumers.
• Always have an adult supervise fireworks activities. Sparklers burn at temperatures of about 2,000 degrees – hot enough to melt some metals.
• Never place any part of your body directly over a fireworks device when lighting the fuse. Back up to a safe distance immediately after lighting fireworks.
• Never try to re-light or pick up fireworks that have not ignited fully.
• Never point or throw fireworks at another person.
• Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose handy in case of fire or other mishap.
• Light fireworks one at a time, then move back quickly.
• Never carry fireworks in a pocket or shoot them off in metal or glass containers.
• After fireworks complete their burning, douse the spent device with plenty of water from a bucket or hose before discarding it to prevent a trash fire.

Illegal fireworks may not be discharged within the Templeton CSD boundaries. Firecrackers, cherry bombs, and bottle rockets are all examples of illegal fireworks. Illegal fireworks can cause wildfires, roof fires and serious injuries.

There is zero tolerance for the sale and use of illegal fireworks. Violation will result in a misdemeanor citation with a $2,000 fine. Illegal fireworks may be turned into the Templeton Fire Department at 206 Fifth St. during business hours without consequence.
