– Jakob Wright has joined the Dodgers organization. The former Bearcat and ace of Cal Poly’s pitching staff was selected Monday in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball draft.
Wright was the 128th pick taken overall. That selection is worth a signing bonus of about $550,000. He was the first collegiate player taken by the Dodgers.
At Cal Poly this past season, Wright started nearly every Friday night game for the Mustangs. His record was 9-3. He struck out 101 batters. His earned run average in 2024 was 2.97.
Before enrolling at Cal Poly, Wright pitched for Paso Robles High School. Jakob also hit well for the Bearcats, although he didn’t get many opportunities to hit while he played at Cal Poly.
Wright will soon be assigned to a minor league club or training facility in the Dodgers organization.
