Former probation officer accused of embezzling over $100,000

    – Former Deputy Probation Officer Fallyn Sierra Rollins has been charged with multiple felony counts of grand theft by embezzlement for allegedly stealing more than $100,000 from the San Luis Obispo County Probation Peace Officers’ Association, San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow announced Thursday.

The San Luis Obispo County Probation Peace Officers’ Association is a nonprofit employee organization that provides training, legal assistance, and other benefits to Probation Department employees.

According to the criminal complaint, Rollins, 31, served as the association’s treasurer from February 2023 to August 2024 and had control over the organization’s checking account, debit card, and financial records. She is alleged to have used her position to divert funds undetected over an 18-month period.

Once the suspected theft was discovered, the association’s leadership reported it to the San Luis Obispo Police Department. Both the association and the County Probation Department cooperated with the investigation.

The complaint charges Rollins with nine felony counts involving dozens of fraudulent transactions. On Feb. 4, a Superior Court judge issued an arrest warrant for Rollins with bail set at $1.18 million. She later appeared in court and filed a motion to recall the warrant and requested to be released on her own recognizance.

Deputy District Attorney Ben Blumenthal argued that bail should remain at $1.18 million. Judge Barry LaBarbara recalled the warrant and reduced bail to $100,000 with conditions, including that Rollins obey all laws, submit to searches, not work or volunteer in any financial capacity, reside in San Luis Obispo or Santa Barbara counties, and wear an electronic monitor.

Rollins will be monitored by the Santa Barbara County Probation Department while on pretrial release. She is scheduled to appear in court again on Feb. 24 in Department 3 of the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court.

The case was investigated by San Luis Obispo Police Department Detective Jeff Koznek and is being prosecuted by Blumenthal.

A criminal complaint contains charges that must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt in court. Every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
