Foul play suspected in missing persons case 

Reward offered for information on whereabouts of Jared Walters, missing since Feb. 26

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff–On May 18, 2016, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office detectives served a search warrant at a house located in the 2200 block of “I” Street in Santa Margarita. This house is a location of interest in the missing person case of 38-year-old Jared Jay Walters, a transient in San Luis Obispo County.

Walters was reported missing to the Atascadero Police Department on Feb. 26, 2016 and since that time, the Sheriff’s Office has been assisting with the case. Walters is listed as “suspicious missing” and investigators believe he may have been the victim of foul play. The investigation into Walters’ whereabouts continues.

Anyone with information about this case, is urged to call the Sheriff’s Office at (805) 781-4500, or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 549-STOP (549-7867). Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward for information that leads to the whereabouts of Jared Walters.
