Fun Ways to Spend Your Time in Paso Robles 

Paso Robles has grown from being a wild west town to a wine country, with 250 wineries, many with tasting rooms for visitors to savour Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Grenache, Syrah, Viognier, and several other grapes. There are also upmarket eateries, places to enjoy craft beers and many retail establishments offering entertainment. At City Park, the events diary includes custom car shows, an olive festival, summer concerts and more. The city still retains its small-town vibe and celebrates its cowboy roots in the summer with the two-week California Mid-State Fair that include carnival rides, livestock auctions and good food.

Paso Robles Casino, Bar and Lounge

Offering a night of fun and excitement, the Paso Robles Casino, Bar and Lounge staff are professional and the four card tables show Paso at its best, with great food and their own craft beer. The venue is open from mid-afternoon to the early hours of the next morning so if you want to play card games blackjack outside those hours you can play online. Highly recommended on the Paso Robles Casino menu are the potato skins and bacon-wrapped jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese.

Vina Robles Amphitheater

Opened in 2013, the Vina Robles Amphitheatre is one of the largest outdoor venues for arts and entertainment in the area with seating for 3,300 individuals. Paso Robles Wine Country

Paso Robles is home to large resort-style wineries making dozens of wines as well as small family-run places that create wines from their own estate grapes. Try Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Zinfandel grapes from limestone soils or head for cooler York Mountain for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and an unusual Cabernet, and enjoy the fabulous scenery as you do.

Paso Robles Wine Festival Weekend

The Paso Robles Wine Festival Weekend takes place over four wine-filled days in May. On offer are tastings, winemaker dinners, exclusive outdoor excursions, and more. More than 150 wineries are open for activities that include barrel tastings, artisanal food pairings, BBQs, vineyard tours and live music.

Harvest weekend

Many wineries will open their doors for a weekend of harvest tasting from the most recent bottles. In October 2021, several wineries will offer samples of their 2019 vintage with special offers on favourite blends just for the weekend. This is a great family day out as you can picnic out on the lawns or have a leisurely stroll around the site.

Concerts in the Park

In 2021, The Beach Boys (18 September) and Stephen Marley (29 October) were two of several musicians booked to play at Paso Robles City Park in the music events calendar for the year. These concerts are sponsored by J. Lohr Vineyards and Wines and Firestone Walker Brewing Company in a series of concerts celebrating the 20th anniversary season of this great series.

The California Mid-State Fair

The Mid-State Fair in late July is tagged as the biggest little fair anywhere. There are craft, arts and flower stalls, concerts with big-name performers on the main stage and music for free on smaller stages across the site. The California Mid-State Fair is held annually and runs for 12 days at the end of July. Visitors can also enjoy the animals and competitions including sheepdog trials.

Cayucos State Beach

Just 40 minutes by car from Paso Robles is the beautiful sandy Cayucos State Beach for swimming and surfing. There are picnic tables, play equipment, restrooms, and outside showers available. Lifeguards are on duty over the summer and the pier is lit for night fishing and no fishing license is required. There are also historical buildings from the prospering old town that are now a variety of shops, restaurants, antique stores and more.
