– Garbage collection rates in Paso Robles will rise over the next five years following approval from the Paso Robles City Council, according to multiple reports.
Starting Feb. 1, residential and commercial customers will see their bills increase by nearly 12%, adding an estimated $7 to $10 per month for some residents.
Paso Robles Waste & Recycle reportedly submitted a rate study before the previous five-year period ended in December, citing rising operational costs. According to the study, labor costs increased by 41%, equipment expenses rose by 73%, fuel prices went up 74%, and insurance premiums climbed 82%.
The company has provided waste collection services in Paso Robles for nearly 70 years. The city council reviews its rates every five years as part of its agreement with the service provider.
Citing the documented cost increases, the city council approved the higher collection rates.
