    – Early Wednesday morning a giant oak tree fell in San Miguel. Camp Roberts and San Miguel firefighters responded to a home at the corner of 15th and L Street to ascertain the damage.

At 4:15 a.m., the firefighters circled the home with emergency yellow hazard tape to warn residents about the potential danger. Branches of the tree landed on a trailer on the large corner lot. No injuries were reported.

Today, the property owner is going to assess the damage.

The giant tree is older than the San Miguel Mission. The oak tree stood on a hill overlooking San Miguel when Jesse and Frank James visited the Elkhorn Saloon in 1868.
