During Give Fitness’ first year of business, $10,000 was donated to the El Camino Homeless Shelter and Parents for Joy, a group of parents and families of special-needs children in and around Atascadero.

This year, Give Fitness has $15,000 available and is ready to meet the needs of the community

–Give Fitness in Atascadero is gearing up to celebrate its second anniversary on Saturday, March 12. They will be hosting an open house in celebration on March 12 from 6-9.

Josh Donovan, managing partner of the Atascadero Give Fitness location and chief operating officer of the Fitness Division for Working to Give was born and raised in Atascadero. “This is a dream, an amazing privilege to give back to the town I love and consider home,” said Josh. “I understand firsthand the market, people and the needs of our community.”

Parent company Working to Give, started by Matthew Holguin in 2005, was created as a, “purpose driven company” rather than one that was profit driven. Its mission is to, “provide life in its fullness for 100 countries over the next 20 years,” through numerous businesses worldwide including Give Fitness Health Club.

During the first year of business, $10,000 was donated to the El Camino Homeless Shelter and Parents for Joy, a group of parents and families of special-needs children in and around Atascadero. This year, Give Fitness has $15,000 available and is ready to meet the needs of the community. They say they want to make the biggest impact possible, seeking a return on purpose from the investments they will make through donations.

“We want to challenge the norm and challenge others to follow this business model,” said Donovan. “With 3000 fitness members, we do the giving while offering opportunities such as Service Saturday for our members to give back, as well.” Members have already picked up trash along El Camino Real and delivered food for the homeless while having the opportunity to meet others who frequent Give Fitness.

“Looking ahead, we want to continue to grow this brand while continuing to act as a pillar in the community. The roots are currently being planted and we want to educate the public, make it a community where everyone is proud and establish a strong support system for our own kids,” Donovan said.

In their third year of business, they’re hoping to start a foundation that can offer support to the community on a more consistent, ongoing basis. They want to become an ongoing giving well for Atascadero’s community needs.

“We want to hear from the people: how can we impact and improve Atascadero? Let’s keep building a community we can be proud of, with strong support systems and a future for the next generation,” said Donovan.
