Grocery Outlet opening at old Kmart building

Grocery outletThe Paso Robles City Council on Tuesday approved a request for an on-sale beer and wine permit for a new Grocery Outlet that will be moving into the old Kmart building located at 2800 Riverside Ave, Suite 102 next to Tractor Supply.

The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control staff determined that there is an “undue concentration” in relation to the number of alcohol related licenses that currently exist in that area of the city, but it is common for grocery stores to sell beer and wine in conjunction with grocery sales. All grocery stores in the city currently have similar licenses.

City staff determined that the over concentration of beer and wine sales licenses in the north Riverside area of the city is a result of the multiple gas station/mini-mart establishments located on 24th Street and Black Oak Drive. The council approved the permit unanimously.

According to the real estate agent representing the building’s owners, Grocery Outlet is planning to officially open in August. The building is currently going through renovations to prepare the space for the new grocery store.

How about an In and Out?

    Tami Padilla

So happy that means more jobs

    Angel York

Yea! Another option on the West side vs. long lines at Smart and Final!

    Suzanne Landers-Grinley

Whole Foods would have been a better choice for a town like Paso Robles. Will be interesting to see how "discount" this place will be ….and their quality!!!

    Angie Russell

I would much rather see a Costco in Paso.

    Msvinyl Too

Yes Whole Foods or Costco would be wiser choice.. Grocery Outlet is nothing to brag about

    Rae Ann Kastman Anderson

Go check out the one in Atascadero. It has good prices.

    Diane Reed

I remember driving all the way to San Luis for Smart N Final, now the prices don't seem to be all that different from any other market here. I'd also love to see a Costco closer to North County. I have no doubt with all the farmers etc… and the people wanting it, we could easily support it here!
