On March 24, a groundbreaking ceremony for the new North County Campus Center is scheduled for 10 a.m.; complementary parking will be available in lot 10. The ceremonies will take place at the sites of the new structures and include comments from college leadership, a look at what’s to come, and refreshments. Those planning to attend are encouraged to RSVP by March 10 to Jessica_strano@cuesta.eduu or (805) 546-3279.

“These groundbreakings represent the beginning of two of the most visible outcomes of the first issuance of Measure L,” said Cuesta College Superintendent/President Gil Stork. “We look forward to sharing this exciting next step with our community, without which none of this would be possible.”

The North County Campus Center, located on the Paso Robles Campus, will be a 43,000 square foot, two-story structure that will also house programs and offices displaced by the removal of modular structures. Located in the northeast portion of campus, the new structure will include student services like admissions and records, counseling, financial aid, student life and leadership, health center, bookstore and the cafeteria. The college plans to start construction in late April with a completion date of Fall 2017.

San Luis Obispo Campus Instructional Building will be a 32,000 square foot, two-story structure that will house eight high-capacity, multi-discipline classrooms on the ground level, capable of serving up to 45 students each. It will also contain one forum sized classroom, capable of serving 90 students. The second floor will be comprised of more than 40 offices, staff lounges and meeting rooms. The new structure will sit in the southwest corner of the campus, and is housing programs that previously operated in modular structures. Construction will officially begin in early April, with a projected completion date of Fall 2017.
