Update: Sherwood Park groundbreaking rescheduled
Update posted March 19:
Ceremony will take place March 26
– A groundbreaking ceremony for a variety of improvements at Sherwood Park in Paso Robles will take place on Wednesday, March 26, at 1 p.m. The ceremony, originally scheduled for March 5, was rescheduled due to inclement weather.
During the event, Paso Robles City Manager Chris Huot will discuss the upcoming changes, which include the addition of seven new lighted pickleball courts, a picnic, shade, and barbeque area, new restrooms, and a large parking lot. Representatives from the city’s Public Works and Community Services Departments will also be present.
These improvements are based on extensive community input gathered from several public meetings after the approval of the Sherwood Park Master Plan and authorization by the Paso Robles City Council. The project was designed by SSA Landscape Architects, with JJ Fisher Construction Inc. handling the construction. The $3.4 million project is expected to be completed in 2026.
“The enhancements at Sherwood Park reflect our city’s commitment to creating vibrant public spaces where residents and visitors of all ages can gather, play, and thrive,” said Angelica Fortin, Paso Robles Community Services Director. “With pickleball’s popularity soaring, we’re excited to serve up new opportunities for players of all skill levels while also enhancing the park with beautiful, upgraded amenities for everyone to enjoy.”
Sherwood Park, located on the east side of Paso Robles near Scott Street and Creston Road, offers several popular amenities, including baseball and soccer fields, a dog park, and an award-winning fantasy-themed play area featuring a castle, dragon, and sword in the stone.
