‘Hands Across the Sea’ concert set for May 4 in San Luis Obispo
Concert highlights include Sousa, Bernstein, Elgar, and Copland
– The San Luis Obispo Wind Orchestra will present its concert “Hands Across the Sea” on May 4 at 3 p.m. at the Harold J. Miossi Cultural and Performing Arts Center at Cuesta College.
The concert will feature guest artist Chris Woodruff, principal trumpet and director of bands at California Polytechnic State University. Woodruff will join the orchestra for the performance, which includes a program of well-known pieces from the wind band repertoire.
The orchestra will perform “Hands Across the Sea” by John Philip Sousa, Leonard Bernstein’s “Overture to Candide,” Edward Elgar’s “Nimrod” arranged by Patterson, Aaron Copland’s “Quiet City,” Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Toccata Marziale,” and Percy Grainger’s “Handel in the Strand,” along with other selections.
Jennifer Martin will conduct the concert.
