Hands-on emergency course teaches response and recovery skills
– The Paso Robles Community Emergency Response Team will offer a CERT Basic Training Course to teach residents disaster preparedness, response, and recovery skills.
The 24-hour course is open to community members 15 years of age and older. Participants will learn how to prepare for disasters, provide basic first aid, extinguish small fires, search structures and rescue victims, and understand the psychology of disasters. The training also includes information on terrorism and hazardous materials.
Classes will be held at the Paso Robles Public Safety Center, 900 Park St., on Oct. 28 and 30 and Nov. 4 and 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. A final review and disaster exercise will take place Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to about 5 p.m. at Fire Station 3, 2924 Union Rd. Attendance at all sessions is required to receive a certificate of completion.
