Update: No injuries reported at ‘Y’ collision Monday night

California Highway Patrol has released further information regarding the collision that occurred at the Cholame “Y” Monday night. On Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, at approximately 6 p.m., 24-year-old Fresno man Marco Silva Jr. was driving his 2005 GMC Safari van, eastbound on Highway 46, approaching the intersection of Highway 46 and 41. 25-year-old Paso Robles man Robert Garcia Jr. was driving a 2017 Nissan NV200 van, westbound on Highway 46, approaching the 46/41 intersection.  As both vehicles approached the intersection from opposite directions, Silva Jr. made a left turn directly in front of Garcia Jr. Garcia Jr. was unable to avoid a collision and the front of his vehicle impacted the right side of Silva Jr’s vehicle.

Both vehicles came to rest on the shoulder of the roadway, and both parties walked away without claiming any injuries.

Drugs and or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this collision, but the investigation is still ongoing.

Collision reported at Cholame ‘Y’

–A collision was reported Monday evening around 6 p.m. near the Cholame “Y” intersection.

It was reportedly a two-vehicle, head-on collision. Firefighters and medics responded to the scene. The vehicles involved were both vans.

No further information is available at this time.

Note: The original CHP report described the accident as a head-on crash, and identified the vehicles as a Ford Aerovan and Chevy Astrovan. The nature of the crash and the correct vehicle identifications have been updated. Additionally, no extrication was needed.
