Heat advisory in effect for Paso Robles through Friday
High temperatures in the 80s and 90s are expected across North County
– The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory at 2:48 a.m. March 18 for the Cuyama Valley, San Luis Obispo County Interior Valleys, and Southern Salinas Valley, including Paso Robles, Atascadero, and other interior communities. The advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. Friday.
High temperatures in the 80s and 90s are expected across the affected areas. Warm overnight low temperatures will contribute to the heat risk, particularly in mountain and foothill locations.
The service warns of a high risk for heat illness among sensitive populations, including young children, the elderly, those without air conditioning, and those who are active outdoors.
Residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Those who must be outside should wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening hours. Residents should take action if they observe symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
