–Join the California Conservation Corps Watershed Stewards Program in partnership with AmeriCorps, the Upper Salinas-Las Tablas Resource Conservation District and the City of Atascadero, in building a bioswale to improve water quality in Atascadero Lake. The event will take place on March 13 and 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of Lake View Dr. and Santa Rosa Rd. at Atascadero Lake Park. Volunteers of all ages and capabilities are welcome. Snacks, water and beverages will be provided.

Volunteers will be planting native plants and installing a bioswale, a linear channel that helps reduce sediment and pollutants from entering Lake Atascadero. The bioswale will help improve the water quality of Atascadero Lake, and downstream creeks, many of which are Steelhead Trout-bearing streams. The event is also meant to be an educational community event where volunteers can learn about their local habitat and watershed, and current efforts to enhance it.
