High school jazz band wins multiple awards
– The Paso Robles High School Jazz Band earned multiple awards and individual honors at the 2026 Dos Pueblos High School Jazz Festival while competing against student ensembles from across California, according to the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District.
The Paso Robles High School ensemble received second place in the Senior High Novice Division.
Several musicians from Paso Robles High School also received individual and sectional honors from festival adjudicators. Jaime Cota, Khalil Conrad, and Christian Serna received Best in Festival Section for trombones. Christian Serna also received Best in Festival Soloist.
Additional honors included Outstanding Rhythm Section and Outstanding Trombone Section. Oliver Taylor received Outstanding Guitar Soloist, Maxwell Toohey-Bergvall received Outstanding Drum Soloist, and Emery Teale received Outstanding Rhythm Soloist.
The Dos Pueblos High School Jazz Festival takes place annually in Goleta and brings together student jazz ensembles for a full day of performances, adjudication, and educational clinics led by professional musicians and jazz educators.
The band is scheduled to perform again on Saturday, March 14, at the Cuesta College Jazz Festival. The event is free and open to the public and will include a live performance and on-stage clinic featuring the Paso Robles students alongside other Central Coast jazz programs.
