Bearcat boys earn basketball win over Bruins
Paso Robles 47, Greenfield 41
In what Coach Derrick Jasper called, “a tough road game,” the Paso Robles High School varsity boys beat the Greenfield Bruins, 47-41 on Dec. 15.
Anthony Napoli led the Bearcats with 14 points and six rebounds. Gabe Linn chipped in 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while junior guard Sebastian Galsim added eight points for Paso Robles.
With the win, the Bearcats are currently 4-2 on the season. Next up, the Bearcats will compete in the Atascadero Christmas Classic Tournament Dec. 28-30 at Atascadero High School; times vary.
Bearcat girls conquer Pirates in water polo
Paso Robles 10, Santa Ynez 9
On Dec. 8, the Paso Robles High School water polo girls beat the Santa Ynez Pirates, 10-9.
Senior Marina Smeltzer had a team high with four goals for the Bearcats. Sophomore Mackenzie Raymond, senior Miranda Pasky, and freshman Tatiana Smeltzer scored two apiece. Lulu Root had 10 saves for Paso Robles, including a 5-meter penalty block.
“The game was tied nine different times,” said Coach Grant East. “Key late goals by MacKenzie Raymond at 47 seconds left and Tatiana Smeltzer at nine seconds left gave us the lead and the win.”
The Bearcats will take a break from play for a few weeks. They will return to play San Luis Obispo at home at Paso Robles Municipal Pool for the start of league play on Jan. 3 at 4 p.m.
