Highlights from Paso Robles City Council meeting
Highlights from the City Council meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018 are as follows:
Warbirds Museum lease—extended the term by 14 years, so that it would align with the museum’s other lease, thereby promoting the museum’s ability to obtain financing for improvements.
Youth Commission bylaws—amended the bylaws, enabling this newly energized commission to operate year round.
Slurry Seal—authorized a contract to perform scheduled slurry seal maintenance to a large number of streets throughout the community, as part of the city’s pavement management program.
Oak Park, Phase IV—authorized the deferral of $1.4 million in water and sewer connection fees, as well as in building permit fees, to promote the construction of the final 76 out of 301 total housing units in Oak Park, which are reserved for individuals and families earning between 30-percent and 60-percent of the median household income in this area. Construction of these multi-family units is expected to commence in Dec. 2018.
City-owned parcel at Cumbre/Ladera Lane—authorized staff to begin the process of “detaching” this 5.3-acre parcel from the city. (Detachment is the opposite of annexation; once the detachment is approved by LAFCO, the parcel will no longer be within the city; instead it will revert to being part of the unincorporated area of the county.) After detachment, the city will sell the parcel, as it is no longer needed for a water tank. Proceeds of the sale will revert to the Water Fund, which purchased the property decades ago.
This represents just a subset of the total actions by the council. The full agenda (with all the back- up materials) can be found at http://www.prcity.com/government/citycouncil/index.asp. The minutes will be available as part of the packet for the City Council’s next regular meeting, on March 6, 2018.
