Highway 101 lane closure along Cuesta Grade begins next week

–The No. 2 (middle) and No. 3 (right) lane of southbound US 101 will be closed from the top of Cuesta Grade to south of Old Stagecoach Road beginning Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 9 a.m. until Thursday, Jan. 24 at 5 a.m., weather permitting.

These lane closures will allow Caltrans to repair the roadway where a sinkhole is developing. This roadwork will also include the removal and replacement of a failed drainage culvert beneath those lanes.

Motorists should expect slowing in this construction zone and anticipate delays not to exceed 15 minutes.

The contractor for this $40,000 emergency project is S. Chavez Construction of San Luis Obispo, CA. This project will ensure a safe highway for thousands of motorists who use the Cuesta Grade.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.

For traffic updates in San Luis Obispo County, motorists may call Caltrans District 5 Public Affairs at (805) 549-3318 or can visit http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist05/paffairs/release.htm#sblo.
