Highway 101 repairs continue with overnight closures

Highway 101 repair project in Atascadero continues with overnight highway, lane closures

–A project to replace concrete pavement at five locations on US Highway 101 between the Hwy. 58 Interchange in Santa Margarita and Traffic Way in Atascadero continued during the overnight hours on Thursday, April 15.

Motorists encountered a closure of the southbound No. 2 (right) lane of US 101 from Traffic Way to Hwy. 58. The northbound No. 2 (right) lane of US 101 were closed from Hwy. 58 to Traffic Way.

These lane closures caused a full closure in both directions of US 101 Thursday evening between Santa Barbara Road and Traffic Way from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Motorists detoured southbound from US 101 at the Santa Barbara Road off-ramp or northbound at the Hwy. 58 off-ramp and travel between El Camino Real/Hwy. 58 through Santa Margarita to reach US 101 and the reverse for northbound traffic.

Caltrans said motorists could expect traffic delays not to exceed 10 minutes. Electronic message boards and detour signs have been posted to inform the public about this roadwork.

The contractor for this $9 million project is Guy Atkinson of Irvine. This project is scheduled to be complete by the end of next month.
