Bridge could take six months or longer to replace

–Earlier this week, Caltrans decided to close Highway 1 in Monterey County indefinitely due to structural damage to the Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge. The bridge is located one mile south of Big Sur.

The bridge sustained multiple cracks due to a landslide that took down part of a hillside and traveled under the bridge. The moving mud cracked the bridge’s supports. According to reports, bridges like these can take six months or more to replace.
