Hispanic Business Association hosting Mardi Gras fundraiser

The Hispanic Business Association will host its 5th annual Mardi Gras celebration 5:30 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 13 at the Park Ballroom. Net proceeds from ticket sales and the silent auction will be donated to the Hispanic Community Foundation, a non-profit awarding high school students with scholarships.

“I look forward to attending the event every year,” said Leticia Gomez CEO of Leticia’s First Class Cleaning. “It’s for a great cause. We are helping kids get to college.”

Mardi Gras, a colorful carnival celebration often involving parades, masks, beads, music, and jolly folk. The french translation is “Fat Tuesday,” according to Wikipedia, and denotes feasting on fatty foods before the lenten period.

Tickets are on sale for $75 per person and VIP tables are also available for $500 seating eight.

It’s not Mardi Gras without a parade, you can look forward to one starting 4:30 p.m. from the Downtown City Park towards the ballroom. Aside from raising much needed funds for scholarships HBA will be announcing three Citizenship Awards.

“The Citizenship Awards will be honoring individuals for their work within the community,” said HBA President Francisco Ramirez. Look forward to a night of networking, cocktails, entertainment, and more.
