Historic Paso Robles winery listed for $4.25 million
Midnight Cellars for sale in Paso Robles’ Willow Creek District
– A winery in the Willow Creek District, located at 2925 Anderson Road, has been listed for sale at $4.25 million. The 10.5-acre property, which includes Midnight Cellars and tasting room, is recognized as one of Paso Robles’ original wineries and the 29th bonded winery in the area.
The estate is situated along Highway 46 West, with neighboring wineries such as Booker Winery and Tooth & Nail. It features a fully permitted 5,000-square-foot indoor production facility, a covered outdoor production area of equal size, and a 2-acre malbec vineyard. The property has the capacity to produce up to 15,000 cases of wine annually, with additional plantable land available for expansion.
The property also offers a large outdoor venue for hosting events and tastings, contributing to its appeal for hospitality-focused ventures.
Winemaker Rich Hartenberger, whose family has owned Midnight Cellars since the 1990s, described the location’s draw when it was first selected. “My father loved the area so much he wanted to both live and work here. It wasn’t called Willow Creek back then; it was just ‘West Side.’ The rolling hills and positive feedback from the neighbors made it an easy choice,” Hartenberger said.
Hartenberger also highlighted the estate’s potential for future development. “The malbec planting, while still in Willow Creek, is flat and easy to farm. The hilltop also offers amazing views to the south and could make an incredible house site,” he said.
Reflecting on the property’s history, Hartenberger noted, “My parents, my wife, and I were the 29th winery in the appellation back in 1995. We established our forever home for the winery in 1997 and have been part of the explosive growth and popularity of the area. I look forward to focusing on smaller, passion projects while passing the torch to the next steward of this historic estate.”
The Willow Creek District is known for its calcareous soils and marine influence, which contribute to high-quality grape production. These conditions support the cultivation of bold and expressive wines, enhancing the appeal of the estate.
